Emptiness:

Floating through malasses

Contemporary dance theatre

7th-13th August

45mins

Xiaoyi Tong & Jacob Gale

Emptiness is a pure space between nothingness and existence. When our mind is filled with it, how do we perceive ourselves? Do we feel filled or empty, light or heavy, trapped by something or by nothing? This thought-provoking piece explores emptiness through sensuality and vulnerability, expressed through virtuosic movements. Two interdisciplinary dance artists interweave and unfold their thinking in this new intercultural dance-theatre work, contrasting Chinese and Western dance narratives. With playful and emotive floating balloons, Tong and Jacob delve into emptiness to explore our deepest desires and fears, which can rapidly change without any intimation.
